The Shift Method™

A coaching approach for navigating life's transitions and shaping what comes next.

When the life you've built no longer quite fits the person you've become.

You've spent years building a life, a career, relationships, and a sense of who you are. Much of it has been meaningful, rewarding, and worth the effort.

But life changes. Children grow up and need you differently. A career you've loved may no longer be where you want to devote your time and energy. A relationship ends, and you find yourself moving from "we" and "us" to "me". Or you step into a new leadership role and discover that the ways you've always succeeded aren't quite serving you anymore.

Sometimes these changes happen gradually.

Sometimes they're unexpected.

And sometimes you're the one who wants something different, even when the life you have is objectively good.

These transitions can bring about an identity gap: the space between the roles, expectations, and ways of living that have defined you and the person you are now, or are becoming.

I developed The Shift Method™ to help women explore that space. It brings together reflection, awareness, and practical action to help you understand what's changing, recognize what still fits, and begin making choices that reflect who you've become.

The goal isn't to discard the life you've built. It's to have a greater say in how you live the next part.

Who Is The Shift Method™ For?

The Shift Method™ is for accomplished women navigating changes in their lives, their identities, and their understanding of what they want next.

You might be:

  • Considering retirement and wondering who you'll be without the career that has shaped so much of your life.

  • Adjusting to an empty nest and discovering that your time, responsibilities, and relationships are changing.

  • Finding your footing after the end of a marriage or long-term relationship, making decisions for yourself after years of thinking as a couple.

  • Stepping into greater leadership and questioning whether the approaches that brought you this far are still right for you.

  • Feeling that something in your life no longer quite fits, even though you can't yet explain what you want instead.

Not every transition calls for a dramatic change. Sometimes the work is understanding what you want to keep, what you're ready to reconsider, and how to move forward without rushing to have all the answers.

The Four Phases of The Shift Method™

1. Notice the Shifts

We begin by looking at where your life, roles, and expectations may no longer reflect who you are.

Sometimes you've drifted away from your own needs while meeting everyone else's. Other times, you've grown or your circumstances have changed, but the habits and assumptions guiding your decisions haven't caught up.

This is about recognizing what's happening, without judgment or pressure to change everything.   It's also an opportunity to look at your accomplishments, legacies, and turn-arounds.

2. Return to Center

Through reflection, awareness, and practical coaching exercises, you'll reconnect with what matters to you now.

We explore your needs, values, emotions, intuition, and the ways you've learned to make decisions. This creates room to distinguish what you genuinely want from what you've grown accustomed to expecting of yourself.

3. Live & Lead from Presence

Understanding yourself is important. So is bringing that understanding into your everyday life.

Here, we begin exploring new choices and putting them into practice. That might mean approaching leadership differently, reconsidering how you spend your time, reshaping relationships, or experimenting with possibilities for the next phase of your life.

You begin making decisions with greater self-trust, rather than relying on roles and expectations that may no longer fit.

4. Sustain the Shift

Meaningful change takes time, especially when you're changing patterns that have developed over decades.

Together, we develop practices, supports, and ways of checking in with yourself that help you carry your discoveries into daily life. As your circumstances evolve, you'll have a way to recognize when something needs attention and make adjustments that reflect who you are now.

“Linda’s approach helped me stop performing and start leading in a way that feels real and sustainable. It’s a shift I didn’t know I needed.”    (N. W. The Reset Program)

What Makes The Shift Method™ Different?

  • Whole-person approach: We honor all of you—your mind, body, emotions, and spirit.

  • Wayfinding practices, withTrauma-informed and somatic coaching practices: You get tools and techniques that fit your lived experience, not a cookie-cutter process.

  • No one-size-fits-all: Every journey is personalized. You decide the pace, and we adjust as you grow.

  • It’s about who you are now:  Rather than working toward someone else's definition of success or fulfillment, we explore the life you've built, the person you've become, and the choices you want to make going forward.

“I thought I had to work harder and just keep going. The Shift Method™ showed me how to actually listen to myself, and I’ve never felt more present, more in charge, or more myself—at work or at home.”   (G.M. The Alignment Experience)
