Life Transition Coaching

Life changes. Your identity does, too.

Perhaps you've reached a point where a career you've loved is asking more of you than you want to give. Your children are building lives of their own. A relationship has ended. Or nothing particularly dramatic has happened, but something about the life you've built no longer feels quite right.

These experiences may look different, but they can raise similar questions about who you are, what you want, and how you'd like to live going forward.

At The Soul Spot, I offer private life transition coaching for people at a point of change. Together, we explore what's shifting, what still matters, and what you want to create next. The goal is to help you feel more assured in who you are now, trust your choices, and approach the future with a greater sense of confidence and possibility.

Retirement Coaching:  Life Beyond Your Career

You've worked hard, achieved a great deal, and may be financially ready to retire. But stepping away from a career you've loved isn't simply a financial decision.

Your career may have given you a sense of purpose, professional identity, security, and relationships that matter. Even if you're exhausted by the demands, leaving can feel complicated.

Retirement coaching helps you explore what you want to carry forward, what you're ready to leave behind, and how to create a satisfying life beyond your career. One that reflects what you value now, not just what you've always done.

Empty Nest Coaching: Rediscovering What's Yours

Your children are building lives of their own, and your role as a parent is changing. You may welcome the freedom while missing the routines, responsibilities, and everyday connections that have shaped your life for years.

This transition can create an opportunity to reconsider your priorities, interests, relationships, and how you want to spend your time.

Empty nest coaching helps you explore who you've become through the years of parenting and what you want for yourself in this next phase, without diminishing the importance of the family you've built.

Relationship Transition Coaching: From We to Me

When a marriage or long-term relationship ends, you may find yourself making decisions you haven't made independently in years.

There can be freedom in that, along with uncertainty about what you want and who you are outside the relationship.

Whether you're navigating life after divorce, separation, or the end of a significant partnership, coaching offers space to rediscover your preferences, strengthen trust in your judgment, and begin making choices about a future that feels like your own.

Transitions Coaching: When Something No Longer Quite Fits

Not every transition begins with a major life event.

Your career may be going well, your relationships are steady, and much of your life is exactly what you've worked to create.

Yet you find yourself reconsidering your direction or questioning expectations you've lived by for years.

In some ways, these transitions can be harder to navigate because there's nothing obviously wrong.

Life transition coaching helps you understand what's shifting, explore what matters to you now, and consider new possibilities without assuming you need to upend the life you've built.

Life's Transitions: When The Familiar Begins to Change

Understanding the Identity Gap

An identity gap can emerge when who you've been, who you're becoming, and the way you're living no longer quite align.

Sometimes your circumstances have changed, but you're still adjusting to what those changes mean for your sense of self. Other times, you've evolved, but you're still making choices based on old expectations, responsibilities, or definitions of success.

These gaps can leave you feeling uncertain even when much of your life is going well.

Coaching helps you recognize where those differences are showing up, understand what's important to you now, and begin making choices that bring your life into closer alignment with the person you've become.

How Life Transition Coaching Can Help

You may have spent a considerable amount of time thinking about what comes next, weighing possibilities, and trying to arrive at the right answer.

But sometimes the question isn't simply what to do next. It's understanding what you actually want, apart from the roles and expectations that have guided you for years.

In our coaching conversations, we explore both the practical decisions you're facing and the assumptions, patterns, and priorities that may be influencing them.

Together, we work to clarify what matters to you now, recognize what you want to preserve or change, and explore possibilities you may not have considered. We also bring those discoveries into real decisions, conversations, boundaries, and actions.

This is where understanding begins to make a difference in everyday life.

The goal is to help you feel more secure in who you are, more confident in your judgment, and better able to create a life that reflects what you want for yourself now.

“The relief I felt in choosing my own path as  rather than following expectations was greater than anything I had experienced with a promotion.” — A.S., Sr. Director

The Shift Method™: My Approach to Change

My coaching is grounded in The Shift Method™, an approach I developed to help people navigate meaningful change and begin shaping what comes next.  It's a process you can repeat in any area of your life, at any point in time.

The method moves through four phases: Notice the Shifts, Return to Center, Explore and Sustain the Shift.

We begin by understanding what's changing, reconnecting with what matters to you, and exploring different ways to respond. From there, we work on bringing what you've discovered into your everyday life, with support to practice, adjust, and sustain those changes. The method provides a foundation for our work, but your coaching is shaped around your circumstances, priorities, and goals.  Learn About The Shift Method™

Linda Rhoads, PCC

I'm the founder of The Soul Spot and an ICF Professional Certified Coach.

I bring more than 25 years of leadership and executive advising experience, along with training in Whole Person, Wayfinder, trauma-informed, and somatic coaching.

I work with people navigating significant decisions and changes in their lives and careers, including those times when a seemingly practical question raises something deeper about identity, priorities, or how they want to live.

My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and practical. I don't assume that change requires leaving everything behind, or that you need to know exactly what comes next before beginning.
