The Results Are In

Your  Success Factor Superpower is
DETERMINATION!

I know there’s much more to you than those nine quiz questions, but here is what I do know.

You are highly determined and disciplined.

This combination gives you a heightened awareness of the details needed to get things done, and do them well.  This determination stems from your drive to succeed, which may come in handy  in highly competitive settings where the smallest error could set you or your project back, or where a first impression is very important.

Individuals who possess this superpower tend to also showcase perseverance, creativity, curiosity, competitiveness, and tenacity. These attributes all stem from your desire to always be and do your best, making you a teammate anyone would be lucky to have.

What's not to appreciate about that?

However, just like our beloved superheros,
our superpowers also have a shadow side.

While your stress superpower can help you through small bursts of stress, your shadow side is likely to show up in prolonged high-pressure situations. These are the situations that put your determination superpower into overdrive.

When this happens, your determination may show up as perfectionism, allowing little room for error. Suddenly, your awareness of  the details morphs into seeking and demanding perfection of yourself and others. Despite your determination, you may find yourself stuck in a cycle of striving for everything to be perfect.

We all recognize that there are times when one should strive to be as close to perfect as possible. However, it is not always needed. In fact, it’s important to remember that doing your best is often all people expect of you.

When determination amplifies into perfectionism, and the volume isn’t regularly turned down, the demands of perfection can be difficult on those around you.  More importantly, it can take a huge toll on you.

And here’s the kicker: perfectionist tendencies  often reveal themselves to be an overactive inner critic.

That's right, your determination might be cloaking thoughts that you are not smart enough, or skilled enough or simply good enough to do the thing you do.  As stress grows your inner critic does too, and your greatest qualities are overshadowed and your superpower sparkle is dimmed.

In these instances, instead of thriving with determination and discipline, you succumb to a spiral of believing nothing short of flawless is not good enough.

Despite this, remember that your determination and discipline are a superpowers.  They  allow you to remain honest, hard-working, motivated and encouraged. However, perfectionism can lead you down a path of all-or-nothing thinking, unrealistic standards and increasingly  critical thoughts about yourself and others. Therefore, it’s worth paying attention to and keeping in check.

Try approving of yourself and see what happens.” — Louise L. Hay

Hello, friend! I’m Linda Rhoads ✨

I’m a purpose and leadership coach who helps people tame their inner critics and live life free from feeling like they are not enough. Not smart enough, not credentialed enough, not young enough, not old enough.  You name it.

There are too many “not enoughs” to list and I lived with many of them as my high-speed inner critic guided my life.

Eventually, finding myself literally sick and tired of trying to "be enough" I made a choice. I learned to silence my inner critic. As a result, I recrafted my life . . .  from the inside out.  Once I no longer had a symphony of criticism playing in my mind I was able to reshape my whole life into something that represents me.

Looking around, I  saw that so many people were grappling with the same internal obstacles. In 2019 I started coaching women on taming their inner critic.  Now I guide people toward banishing that critical harassment so that they can experience a newfound sense of self-assurance, fulfillment and connection.

Supporting people through this dynamic process of transformation and growth as they redefine their sense of themselves is what I do. Seeing people as they gain clarity, confidence, and liberation is deeply rewarding,

I’d love to help you experience that shift, too.
