The Results Are In

Your Success Factor Superpower is
Drive!

I know there’s much more to you than those nine quiz questions, but here is what I do know.

You work hard and get things done.

You are the go-to for projects at work, home, clubs and other activities.  Multi-taking appears to be second-nature as you consistently balance many different things, and you excel at most of them.  In addition to you admirable drive, you are incredibly caring.  Your drive is often intensified by your desire to help others.  You are in fact amazing.

While it might feel overwhelming at times, it’s difficult for you to say no and you’d hate to disappoint others. The ability to balance all of the different aspects of life and give attention to them and to the people involved is an incredible superpower. In fact, it’s the reason you can be counted on to bring your best in all areas of your life.

What's not to appreciate about that?

Just like our beloved superheroes,
our superpowers have a shadow side.

While your stress superpower can help you through small bursts of stress, your shadow side is likely to show up in prolonged high-pressure situations. These are situation that put your drive superpower into overdrive.

When this happens your superpower may show up as a need to take on more than is humanly possible. Your care and drive shift and suddenly you are spread too thin with important commitments in most if not all areas of your life. Ironically, the drive to do it all undermines what you hope to accomplish, that is if cultivating relationships and sleep are on your “to do” list.

We all recognize that there are times when we have to juggle multiple responsibilities and commitments. When we have to go above and beyond and have our hands in many in too many things at once.  But this should not be the rule. Instead, it should be a very infrequent exception.

When drive coupled with care amplifies into what-ever’s-needed tendencies and the volume isn’t regularly turned down,  it can be difficult on those around you.  More importantly, it can take a huge toll on you.

And here’s the kicker: the tendency to do whatever you can whenever it’s needed can reveal an overactive inner critic.

That’s right, your “let me help”  might be cloaking thoughts that you need to continuously prove your worth and value. As stress grows your inner critic does too and your greatest qualities are overshadowed and your superpower sparkle is dimmed.

Instead of thriving on balanced engagement in life and work, you succumb to a spiral of feeling that if you don’t answer the call for help you will be seen as not belonging or as a failure.

Despite this, remember that your determination and discipline are superpowers! They allow you feel the joy that supporting both the work that needs to be done and all those can bring, when it is kept in balance.  However, the drive to do it all can lead you down a path of do-it-yourself, perfectionism, unrealistic standards and highly critical thoughts about yourself. Therefore it's worth paying attention to and keeping in check.

There is always more that needs to be done than any one person can do. It's the learning to balance our lives that will make a difference.  - Anne Wilson Schaef

Hello, friend! I’m Linda Rhoads ✨

I’m a purpose and leadership coach who helps people tame their inner critics and live life free from feeling like they are not enough. Not smart enough, not credentialed enough, not young enough, not old enough.  You name it.

There are too many “not enoughs” to list and I lived with many of them as my high-speed inner critic guided my life.

Eventually, finding myself literally sick and tired of trying to "be enough" I made a choice. I learned to silence my inner critic. As a result, I recrafted my life . . .  from the inside out.  Once I no longer had a symphony of criticism playing in my mind I was able to reshape my whole life into something that represents me.

Looking around, I  saw that so many people were grappling with the same internal obstacles. In 2019 I started coaching women on taming their inner critic.  Now I guide people toward banishing that critical harassment so that they can experience a newfound sense of self-assurance, fulfillment and connection.

Supporting people through this dynamic process of transformation and growth as they redefine their sense of themselves is what I do. Seeing people as they gain clarity, confidence, and liberation is deeply rewarding,

I’d love to help you experience that shift, too.
